Rock the Universe 2017 – Trip Details
Date: Saturday, September 9, 2017
Time: We will meet at the CAC/Gym at noon.
We will return to Lakewood UMC around 3:00am that night.
Cost: $65 plus approximately $20 spending money - $65 is due to Bryan by Wednesday, August 30.
Transportation Details:
We will be taking 1 or 2 vehicles, depending on numbers. All you will need to take with you on the bus will be your spending money. You may bring your pillow if you’d like it to nap on. You may bring snacks and such with you but we ask that you don’t make a mess on the bus. We will stop on the ride home to get gas, take a restroom break, etc. and you are welcome to purchase a snack/drink at that time as well.
Park Details:
When we arrive at the park, we will walk together to the main entrance. We will ask you to be in groups of at least three and then will check to ensure you have a group. We will designate a specific place where we will meet at the end of the night. The park will open at 4pm and we will enter at that time. You will be free to ride the rides, hear the bands, etc. until midnight and adults will not be going with the groups. We believe and expect that you’re responsible enough to handle being in the park on your own, in your group. Stay with your groups and do not leave anyone behind.
You’ll obviously need to purchase dinner. You are to remain in the park. We will meet at midnight at the location that we tell you about at the start of the night. If you have any problems you can call Bryan at 904.424.7994 or see a Universal employee and have them call Bryan.
Sleep Details:
When you arrive on Saturday, you will check in with the adult counselor in the lobby. Then you will take your sleeping items (sleeping bag, pillow, etc) and place them upstairs in the youth room. Boys will be on the side of the room nearest Bryan’s office. Girls will be on the far end of the room. The accordion wall will be closed to separate the spaces.
When we return to Jacksonville it will be very late and we will be heading directly to bed, hence why we want you to set your stuff up before we leave. We will wake you around 9:00/9:30am on Sunday morning, and your parent must pick you up by 10:00am. There will be no Sunday School that morning for middle or high school.
What to Bring:
Sleeping Bag, Pillow, Change of clothes, $20-$25 spending money, whatever bathroom items you may need (deodorant, toothbrush, etc.), headphones are okay to bring for sleeping in the youth room but should not be brought on the buses
